    Room: Outside venue; see description
In the practice of maitri bhavana (or in Pali, metta bhavana,) we cultivate (bhavana) loving-kindness (maitri) towards ourselves and others. One of the Four Limitless Ones or Divine Abodes—loving-kindness, compassion, sympathetic joy, and equanimity—the aim of maitri practice is to develop the emotional warmth and concern of loving-kindness towards all beings we encounter. Dating from the time of the Buddha and elaborated in the later tradition, the cultivation of loving-kindness has been a staple of Buddhist practice and discipline throughout the ages. Beginning with developing loving-kindness towards ourselves we gradually extend it towards friends, neutrals, enemies and beyond to all beings. Please join us in this practice.

The sessions will be led by senior students of the Shambhala community and will take place on Zoom.

These third Wednesday Maitri Bhavana sessions are open and free to the general public.
