The practice of the Mamo chants closes out the Tibetan lunar calendar year.  The end of the lunar calendar year is often referred to as "the dön season." During this time, the Pacifying the Turmoil of the Mamos chant is recited.  It is an elaborate protector offering, done the ten days leading up to the Tibetan New Year (Feb 10, 2024) to pacify the karmic causes of personal, organizational, social, and environmental chaos that accumulate at the year's end.  By reciting the chant, we tune into the protector principle of awareness and reconnect with sacred outlook. We gather to practice together as we end the year, to clear out unfinished business and negativity and rouse our ourselves for the coming year and whatever challenges it may offer.

If you are interested in tuning in each evening of the Mamo Chants you can practice with the global community at Shambhala Online.
