The Social Justice Group at Pioneer Valley Shambhala Centerwas formed in 2015 to consider inclusion and diversity at Pioneer Valley Shambhala, Shambhala worldwide, and in society. The group focuses on the role of meditation, compassion, and social action to address inequality, violence, privilege, racism, and aggression in our world, with the view to promoting Basic Goodness and Enlightened Society. The group is co-facilitated by PVSC members Deborah Marshall and Martha Morgan.

    • Monthly meeting, first Saturdays, 10:00am – 12:00pm

The first hour is for planning events and discussion of social justice aspects in the Shambhala Center. The second hour focuses on reflection and sharing of a reading or theme chosen by the group.

    • Community compassion practice, third Sundays, 11:30am – 12:30pm

We contemplate the Four Immeasurables as a path for developing and strengthening feelings of loving-kindness, compassion, joy and equanimity – for ourselves and others. Over time, this practice gradually erodes the barriers that we have created between ourselves and the outside world. Join us to work for a more compassionate world. Open to all.
